Oh boy, I sound like a fat girl, but I grew up in the city eating dim sum nearly every weekend so I'm a little passionate about it, to say the least. They also have a delicious crispy Macau style pork belly that melts in your mouth. I think their stuffed bean curd with pork and shrimp is also better than other places. MingHin has a great baked creamy salted egg yolk bun that you can't find elsewhere (most other places have the steamed version). There's also the durian turnover if you want to try something different. Delicious items only found at Cai are the rice noodle wrapped vegetarian spring roll (sounds weird but everyone I've recommended it to so far really enjoyed it), and fried green chive dumplings. The tradition began in Guangzhou, the third-largest city in China, circa the 10th century. Thursday morning/afternoon shouldn't be that bad to get a table at either place, however.Ĭai has better har gao and siu mai in terms of flavor and size. Cai has larger portions but has a more "HK-style" hectic atmosphere, no reservations. Phoenix still does the push carts, if that's what you're into, but I prefer checking off the items I want on a slip so they arrive at the table steaming hot vs. It's not bad but Phoenix is higher in price than other restaurants, so the quality doesn't match in terms of value.
